Caleb Didriksen’s dream to establish one of the most respected and successful trial law firms in New Orleans was conceived in the spring of 1988, at a desk in a tiny third bedroom in his apartment, where he launched Didriksen Law Firm. His initial investment in those early days was a word processor and printer and his time. From his perspective, one doesn’t need to borrow capital to develop a successful business. Start where you are and grow organically. From this humble beginning he’s evolved into a “Lawyer’s Lawyer” and is the senior partner of a successful law firm, Didriksen, Saucier & Woods, on Canal Street in New Orleans.

A man of many interests, prior to earning his juris doctorate at Tulane University, Caleb established a career as a successful engineer. Once he finished law school and began his legal career, the benefits for his clients of his initial engineering education and experience became evident. With his dual degrees, he proved himself capable of solving problems that were more complex than the mere rear-ender automobile or truck accident.

His first major client on his own was Entergy, which he had previously served for three years as an associate for a law firm working on casualty claims. His work as a solo lawyer soon evolved to where most of his work was defense work for Entergy and Lloyd’s of London along with some plaintiff work. He always found that representing individuals could be more rewarding than representing the big companies and insurers against the individuals. Many of his clients who were individuals became life-long friends.

During his early practice, Didriksen noted that access to attorneys was a significant barrier that prevented some clients from seeking help for solving legal problems. He understood that access to professionals is a crucial component for a win-win. Didriksen reached out into the community, encouraging potential clients to converse with him about legal issues that they could not resolve for themselves. As a result, he was hailed as a problem solver. Case by case, he built a solid reputation. Presently, he encourages anyone who has a legal issue, to consult with an attorney to explore options and receive guidance – access to legal advice can make all the difference. Didriksen and his law partners routinely meet with potential clients to discuss their potential legal issues at no charge.

As Didriksen’s reputation as a trusted and highly regarded attorney grew, his case load did as well. Over 10 years ago, Trey Woods and Erin Bruce Saucier joined Didriksen Law Firm, and in 2016, they formed Didriksen, Saucier and Woods. The firm provides civil legal services, including litigation of personal injuries from accidents of many causes, property damage litigation, contract litigation, insurance coverage litigation, trusts, wills and estates and professional liability claims, among other areas of law.

Didriksen, Saucier and Woods Law have built a reputation on providing skilled representation for complex and large cases. Didriksen’s focus on helping vulnerable individuals who may not fully understand their rights is important to him and to the firm. They are constantly working for others, to educate and to serve. DSW Law has achieved significant victories, including the highest single plaintiff jury verdict in Louisiana to survive the appellate process, in a case against Daimler Truck North America, resulting in $51 million judgement. The success of this case, as well as a succession of wins, brought notoriety to the firm. Other attorneys routinely seek their help in litigating their cases. DSW has on their own and in concert with other lawyers who bring them in to help, have ultimately achieved very substantial judgments. Ever seeking to educate and impart the rules of the board game of life to others, during client consultations Didriksen routinely emphasizes, to almost all his clients, the importance of uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM) insurance. He states that many drivers in Louisiana are minimally and/or underinsured and don’t understand the most important part of your own auto liability policy is generally the UM coverage, which is a powerful tool to use for your own protection. For example, if a person hits you and doesn’t have enough insurance, your own UM policy steps in place to pay you as though the other driver had proper insurance. Many drivers have only the minimal limits of 15/30, which is $15,000 per injured person, $30,000 per accident. Many Louisiana drivers have no automobile insurance. Didriksen recommends to all his clients to obtain as much UM coverage as each can afford to protect themselves.

On a personal note, this “Lawyers Lawyer” is a licensed general contractor and an airplane pilot. He credits New Orleans with changing his perspective on life. He loves New Orleans and Louisiana for its diversity and how we celebrate differing cultures, and family
