Robert is a news and feature writer with Verite News focusing on criminal justice and immigration. He comes to Verite from Maryland where he wrote stories on local elections, immigration, business, national security, and family legacy. Robert also reported from the Caribbean and Latin America. His stories have been picked up by the Baltimore Sun, the Baltimore Banner, Maryland Matters and other outlets. He has a master’s degree in journalism and in Persian language from the University of Maryland. Robert has lived in and traveled through Central Asia and Eastern Europe, and he's translated Persian and German. He is also proficient in Romanian, and he's a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.

New Orleans celebrated its LGBTQIA+ community on Saturday (June 14) with a day of Pride festivities, while members of the community called for unity and action in the face of heightened legislative and rhetorical attacks in the first several months of the second Trump presidency.
